After the release of Miitomo and Super Mario Run, Nintendo is planning to release 2 or 3 mobile per year starting in 2017, says Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima in a conversation with Japanese newspaper Kyoto Shimbun.

Though Super Mario Run is the first real game the company releases by itself (because the Pokémon franchise is not entirely owned by Nintendo), the recently-released game is just the beginning in the company’s quest to influence users who are into mobile gaming. In addition, Nintendo is listening to gamers to improve Super Mario Run.

After the recent and successful release of Super Mario Run in terms of downloads, Kimishima said the title has already met the company’s expectations; he also believes the number of downloads can go up to 100 million. In just five days, the game has been downloaded 50 million times on iOS devices.

We gamers already know titles based on Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing are coming next year to mobile devices. What else can we expect for the years ahead? We’ll have to find out in 2017.
